I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree with one another. (1 Corinthians 1:10) Paul set an example to the church of how to get along, especially dealing with our words and disagreements. He used the art of appeal. He would not tell someone he flat our disagreed with them but tried to find common ground based on their Lord and His Word.
This takes some maturity and an appreciation of brothers and sisters getting along with harmony and charity. Paul instructed us to appeal in love and truth to bring a person around to the Lord’s way of thinking, the one mind we should all agree with.
Prayer: Lord, I want to get along well with my brethren. Help me to learn to appeal, not to argue or criticize when words do not sit right with me. Then you can use all of us together for good. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
